Apie Kaspars Silavs

Many years ago Kaspars (he/him) fell in love with improv. Since then he studied it and worked with many fantastic improvisers. The biggest cornerstone was his participation in improvisation festivals. In order to introduce Latvian improvisers to international improvisation, he and his like-minded people founded "Improv Comedy Riga" and invited teachers from abroad. During this still ongoing project, over 30 improvisation teachers from different countries visited Latvia. Each of these experiences influenced him and the way he is as an improviser. Kaspars helps to create a supportive community of modern improvisation not only through ICR but he's one of the founders and teachers in Improv Theater Academy in Riga. He loves teaching and believes that he's learning from every single student as well. Kaspars is looking forward to the opportunity to improvise with you!

Dirbtuvės: Physical Comedy: Comic Timing

Certainly, most improvisers have worked to avoid saturating the performance of scenes with direct speech, but to take expressive and meaningful pauses. What to do in these pauses? How often to initiate them? And what are the possibilities of manipulating time and rhythm in our scenes? In this workshop we will learn how to create comic situations using physical choices and mastering deliberate plays of rhythm, pauses, and tension.
